When choosing a title company to close your real estate transaction, it helps to know a little about the enterprise. The Neel family began working in the title and abstract business in 1925 when George E. Neel, Sr., moved to Laredo and purchased the Henry Abstract company, located downtown in the Sames Moore Building. The company remained there until a new office was built at 1219 Washington in 1955.
Around that time, George Neel, Jr. joined the family business and eventually changed the company’s name from Henry Abstract to Neel Abstract Company. By 1973, the company’s coverage extended to five counties – Webb, Zapata, LaSalle, Duval, and Jim Hogg. In 1988, Parker Neel, the third generation of Neels, joined the company. A new company with a new name, Neel Title Corporation, entered the 90’s, ready for a new era in which the importance of North Laredo as a commercial center became more apparent. The move to the north began in 1992 when Neel Title Corporation opened its first branch office on Del Mar Boulevard, near McPherson Road.
Seven years later, Neel Title Corporation made way for the Federal Building downtown and moved its entire operation to its new facility in north Laredo at 1202 Welby Court.
More recently, after the passing of George Neel, Jr., the ownership of the Welby Court Building changed hands, and a new location became necessary.
The newest location for Neel Title Corporation is 7201 Rocio Drive, located right off a beautiful large pond and natural wetlands area, which promises to become a new commercial center in North Laredo.
The over $2.5 Million dollar project is both beautiful and state of the art, with 22 Cantera columns and a Spanish-styled lobby with a vaulted ceiling, wrought iron chandelier, and beautiful artwork.
The building also features the latest high-speed internet and fiber optic cabling and a state-of-the-art computer center, all spearheaded by Zachary Neel, the fourth generation of Neels to be involved in the business.
There is also an ultra-modern video conferencing setup in the Neel Title History Room, which can seat up to 15 people.
The experience of the staff and the quality of the land title records at Neel Title Corporation has continued to be excellent, with many staff members having over 25 years of experience. The company records are extremely accurate and date back to as early as the seventeenth century when the Crown of Spain issued land grants to pioneers settling this area. All of this experience adds up to a company that’s ready, willing, and able to serve you, the customer.
As the third generation to lead Neel Title Corporation, Parker J. Neel continues the legacy built by his family. Following in the footsteps of his father, George E. Neel, Jr., who passed away in 2015, Parker took on the role of Owner and CEO and was honored alongside his late father as the Laredo Chamber of Commerce Businessman of the Year.
With a Bachelor of Arts in History from Baylor University (1984) and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from South Texas College of Law (1988), Parker brings a strong educational foundation to his work. He maintains an active law practice specializing in real estate transaction documents.
Over the years, Parker has held prominent roles within the community, serving as a Local Bank Director, CEO of the Laredo Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the Cola Blanca Deer Hunting Contest, President of the Laredo Rotary Club, President of the Laredo Young Lawyers Association, and long-time secretary of the Laredo Builder’s Association. In 1994, he was named Young Lawyer of the Year.
With a lifelong passion for real estate titles and property histories, Parker is deeply committed to helping clients navigate their transactions. Alongside the dedicated team at Neel Title Corporation, he stands ready to serve the community, no matter the scale of their needs.
